چکیده

Street vending is a worldwide phenomenon, found in all countries and it has been practicing different ways. vendor as person who offers goods or services for sale to the public without having permanent built up structure. Urban Public Space historically described "open space", meaning streets, parks recreation areas, plazas other publicly owned managed outdoor spaces, opposed private domain of housing work (Tonnelat:2010:1).This study concentrated on Beltola Market which one oldest market Guwahati city Assam where Vendors undertaken their everyday business provided large number people through access urban space.The Socio-Demographic status street vendors identified that majority constituted male against female vendors. Majority respondents revealed they have allotted space whereas few them do not proper market.71 per cent rest occupied temporary space. It was observed filed very congested often faced infrastructure related issues, such parking, waste management, congestion.
